The Monarch butterflies in this painting represent those of us who respond to the EMERGENCE of the dawning sun in different ways. Some are revitalized in returning to our daily routines, while others are inspired to seek out new horizons.

I have been drawn to the arts since early memory. I studied Art in high school and received the Art Award upon my graduation. I decided to pursue a career in that direction rather than accepting a scholarship to business school. I enrolled in the Society of Art in Detroit Michigan to study color and design. I was accepted as an apprentice designer at a major department store in Detroit and moved up the ranks to become the Director of Home Fashions. I relocated to California and continued to work in that position for major department stores in Los Angeles and San Francisco before a calling from another major department store in Portland OR. to become Vice President of Home Fashions. During this time, I served on the product development for decorative items at the New York offices of A.M.C. and Federated Department Stores. I was approached to accept a position of the same title at another major department store in Atlanta GA. As part of that position, I traveled constantly throughout this country, Europe and the Far East dealing with product development. I retired after a career of 33 years and moved to St. Petersburg FL. I found that I couldn't just sit around so I designed interiors for word-of-mouth clients. I discovered the Morean Art Center and decided to further develop my interest in watercolor and was pleased to win First Place in my first show and continue to enjoy the mediums rewards.
