Carolyn Boll
Making meaning out of the scraps of existence. The appearance of randomness. The surprise of proximity and unexpected significance. Whimsy and words. Images that speak. Volumes. Amplifying a moment in time. A moment of deep recognition. Sorting things OUT.
Passionate about the intersection of all the arts, Carolyn Boll is an independent art and literary arts curator, poet, journalist, and collage artist working with the interplay between word and image. A trained dancer, and recipient of several Canada Council and Quebec multi-media and choreography grants, Boll is a graduate of The Humber School for Writers. Her poems, short stories and collages have appeared in Lavender Review, The Gay & Lesbian Review, and Mayday Magazine. Her non-fiction writing has appeared in The Dance Current and The Montreal Gazette. Her first book called Social Dance A Book of Ballroom Poetry, is a playful partnering between poetry, image, and dance, and was published by Sally Jane Books, the specialty imprint of lesbian indie publisher Headmistress Press.
