April Vendetta

For LGBTQAI+ people to be seen and thrive, they must feel safe and supported to do so. People should not be forced to live in fear of being physically, mentally, and emotionally attacked or threatened with violence for who they are. Currently, Republican-led states (including Florida) are doing just that by passing laws and bans that directly affect the bodily autonomy of their constituents. Some issues right-wing lawmakers have recently attacked include abortion rights, drag shows, and trans, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming healthcare. They have done this to score political points, to gain votes and financial donations from those that hate and not to protect people. This artwork is a protest against these attacks while highlighting that they are happening in a military-centric country (the US approved an $858 billion military spending bill in December of 2022 according to Democracy Now!) that does not seem to care about the well-being of its citizens unless they are white, cisgender, and preferably male. Emergence is made exponentially more difficult without acceptance, BANS OFF BODIES!
